Right now until March 31, 2021, you may qualify to hold onto your home without being evicted under the Temporary Halt in Residential Evictions to Prevent the Further Spread of COVID-19. Here’s what you need to know to avoid getting evicted:
- Have you made your best effort to obtain all available government assistance for rent or housing?
- Will you earn less than $99,000 in 2021 (or $198,000 for a joint tax return)?
- Did you receive an Economic Impact Payment (stimulus check)?
- Have you been making your best efforts to make timely partial payments that are close to the full amount?
- Would getting evicted make you homeless or cause you to share living space because you have no other options
If your answer was “yes” to the above questions, you may be protected from getting evicted. To be sure, your Financial Assistant can give you real time information as it relates to your personal circumstances. They can also help you plan ahead for after the moratorium ends.
